Will Smith's Astral Plane is a full-scale kaleidoscope with all the magic that his kaleidoscope fountains posses. It is a wonderful blend of contemporary form and mastery of imagery. Smith, recognized for his creative work with acrylic and metals has incorporated wood into this sculptural design. The bronze finish on the base is a beautiful backdrop for the Australian Lacewood body. You will find the Lacewood repeated in the sculptural support blocks found in the base.

Smith's creativity does not stop there. By incorporating a light source into the base, the object chamber is illuminated, which adds a soft luminescence to the sculpture.

The illusion has a wonderful texture created by the blend of feathers, ribbons, and iridescent papers that tumble within the chamber. The equilateral mirror-system provides a clear and pure image as colors fill the scope while turning the handmade dichroic knob. Smith has creatively designed the chamber with a removable panel so you can add personal objects of your own. Its pivoting gooseneck design allows the kaleidoscope to bend and adjust to viewers of all sizes as well as turn 360 degrees. A quick-release connection allows for easy shipping and assembly at home.
