Hot Dots and Starfield are two exciting kaleidoscopes made by Tom and Carol Paretti. Common in Hot Dots and Starfield is the object chamber. The chambers of both scopes are filled with tiny beads - each one smaller than a pin head of black and silver. These beads interact with one another creating static electricity and motion. Together, they flow like water. Amid the beads you will find beautiful lamp-worked glass and beaded forms. Additionally, the side-lit chamber is backed with ribbed brass. This reflects light and color and adds geometric patterning to the image. The chamber turns smoothly and effortlessly on its ball bearing assembly.
Viewed through the two-mirror, 36 degree system which creates a 5 point image, the illusions created within each is spectacular.
Hot Dots
The three inch tall object chamber contains brilliant colored fiber optic rods topped with glass beads and semiprecious stones set amid clear or black glass beads.
The body is covered with two layers of anodized aluminum with circular cutouts that expose the color of the underlayer.
