The Magic Lantern is a stunning display of optical imagery. Essentially two kaleidoscope mirror systems are placed together to create two separate yet unified images. The upper illusion is created by a two-mirror system creating a 5-point image. The lower image, found in the base is formed by a converging two-mirror system that creates three dimensional illusion. These images do not rotate or change, but become intensified with various lighting situations. The images, quite large in scale form an integral part of the sculptural design of the scope. The exterior is simply painted with a green irridescent paint. A simple backdrop with is own ability to reflect and absorb light.
