Gordon Redmond - Kaleidoscopes

A non-traditional illusion is formed from 4 sets of 2-mirror systems for a total of 8 mirrors inside the scope. Four separate images are reflected throughout. As you rotate the wheel, the colors from one image move into the next. It appears that one image grows smaller while an other expands. Reminiscent of the 1960's psychedelic age but with sophisticated jewel tones.

The colors of the fused glass wheels seem more brilliant against the iridescent white glass of the scope and its base. Decorative solder completes the design. Signed G. Redmond, 1989. Star 8 measures 11.5 inches long by 2 inches square. It sits 6 inches tall on base. The base measures 3 x 8 x 2. $200.
