The translucent, brilliantly colored stones create a surprisingly colorful illusion through the three-mirror equilateral system. The deep chamber allows the stones to overlap creating new colors, textures and depth.
The oil is really thick. This is important for the image for several reasons. Most important the stones move slowly through the thick oil. I suggest shaking it a little now and then. This pushes the stones from the back to the front and vice versa. More important, the thick oil makes the stones look wet. If you take your time with the kaleidoscopes you can sometimes see the oil dripping through the stones. It is really lovely.
The Wood kaleidoscope measures 9.5 inches long with a 2-inch diameter. It sits 3.25 inches tall on base. $250.
