Robert Jansen entered the kaleidoscope arena in 1991. Since that time, he has experimented with a wide array of kaleidoscope ideas that stem from his 10 years of experience as a machinist and his 11 years of working with stained glass. A unique set of skills that, when combined, create an interesting body of work.

The idea for Behemoth stems from Robert’s background as a machinist and a designer. It is a highly technical design incorporating 8 mirror-systems and 8 independent object chambers. The chambers are connected through a series of ball bearings which allows each chamber to be advanced so that you can view each chamber through each mirror-system. A total of 64 possibilities result.

The eight mirror systems are:
Two-mirrors at
Three-mirror, equilateral
Three-mirror, 90 degree
No-mirrors - spiral tube effect
Masked, converging three-mirror 90 degree
